The objectives of the Institute in accordance with the decision of the Central Organization for Organization and Administration No. 112 of 1986 are as follows:
- Conducting scientific, applied, diagnostic and laboratory research and studies on animal, poultry and fish diseases.
- Detection of incoming diseases, which have not previously been registered in the Arab Republic of Egypt and finding rapid, modern diagnostic methods in accordance with the international standards set by the World Health Organization in Paris.
- Development of laboratory diagnostics.
- Conduct questionnaires on the prevalence of bacterial, viral, parasitic, mycoplasma and others.
- Protecting livestock from infectious diseases.
- Protect public and human health from the risks of common diseases.
- Ensure the safety of food of animal origin.
- Protect the environment from pathogen contamination.
- Conduct research and studies on the development and improvement of vaccines for viral and bacterial diseases and disease diagnostic materials to increase efficiency so as to increase the strength and effectiveness of these products and use the necessary vaccines.
- Training of workers in the field of livestock development.
- Guidance and awareness to preserve livestock and the health of citizens.
- Cooperating with the veterinary authorities inside the Republic to develop plans to investigate some diseases affecting the national economy.
